Establishment of Global Education System featuring 3 years (domestic) + 1 year (overseas) - Cultivating global men of talent
To cultivate global men of talent through mutual cooperation, our university and the University of Maryland concluded an Agreement on Academic Exchanges at the President`s Office of our school on December 7. The University of Maryland boast its excellent industry-university programs in the field of engineering and natural science. The number of students of the university stands at around 30,000 and the number of students per professor is 9. Located near Washington D.C., the university has conducted joint research projects in close cooperation with national research institutes and associations including NIST, NASA and ARI. With the conclusion of the academic exchange agreement, our university and the University of Maryland will further strengthen its cooperative relations in the areas of exchanges of undergraduate and graduate students, reciprocal credit authorization, exchange of mid- and long-term research personnel, and mutual assistance of research and technology. In particular, the two universities will cooperate with each other to train global professionals by exchanging academic data and research and education information and holding academic seminars and symposiums. With the agreement, our university has built a global education system featuring three years in the nation plus one year overseas following England and Germany.
In particular, the Center for Advanced Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration and Energy (CARE; Director: Prof. Jaekeun Lee, Mechanical Engineering Department), which is promoting `Tailor-made Global Industry-University Cooperation` with LG Electronics, will dispatch undergraduate and graduate students to the University of Maryland from next year as a part of global academic exchanges. Centering around PNU-LG Track scholarship students (yearly assistance 10 million won) selected according to the New Industry-University Cooperation system, our university and LG Electronics will conduct overseas training and tailored joint international research to cultivate global professionals. In addition to the University of Maryland, our school is expanding its efforts to foster global leaders through the conclusion of academic exchange agreements with the University of Illinois, Purdue University, the University of Oxford University, and the University of Cambridge (Jan. 7, 2005).
